When sisters KK and Kelly Welch decided to start a business, they looked for something that would fit their outgoing personalities, allow them to operate in Fredericksburg and be together; and the result was Majesty Tours, a company specializing in Fredericksburg-based wine tours.   "The wine industry fits us well. We love people and like making sure they have a good time. It really fits us", says Kelly.
The sisters both have extensive customer service backgrounds. Kelly, who currently performs the company's daily operations, has more than 20 years of experience in the retail industry. KK, a 22-year employee of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, works on weekends as a driver and guide and plans to become a full-time member of the company upon her retirement in about a year and a half. Following many years of commuting to Austin, KK says, "When I retire, I hope the furthest I ever have to drive again is to one of the wineries".
They definitely see their company as an extension of their collective passions and the innate joy they take in being around and serving people. "We don't just drive people around. They become our friends. We treat them like guests to our home and want to make sure they have the best time possible", says Kelly. "We really like it. It's not like having a job, it's more like doing what we like to do anyway", adds KK.
The company offers tour packages that include two, three or four wineries. The two and three winery versions each include a snack and the four winery program is inclusive of a lunch. The company also provides other group transportation needs, based on availability, and corporate incentive packages. They believed their business would attract mostly special event related groups, such as bachelorette parties, but have found their base of customers to be very diverse. The company, which currently operates a 14 passenger coach, is considering purchasing a van for smaller groups.
They believe the wine business in Fredericksburg will continue to grow and create new opportunities. "I think we are just  getting started. There are so many people that still need to see how great Fredericksburg and the wineries are. You think of Napa Valley and you think of wine, but we have so much more than that to offer: shopping, museums, Enchanted Rock and live music", says KK. "When we were growing up, Fredericksburg was mostly known for peaches and German food, now there is something for everybody", adds Kelly.
As long-time volunteers within the communities in which they have lived, the sisters are committed to contributing back to the community. They hope to produce a benefit event in the future which ties together two of their favorite passions: dogs and wine! "Add some chocolate to that and it would be just about perfect"! jokes Kelly.
They are both quick to say the best aspect of their business is the fact that they are doing it together. "It's really unique to start a business with your sister. Some think it's a mistake to go into business with family, but there is no one I trust or respect more than Kelly", says KK. "We talk many times a day and enjoy every minute of it", Kelly adds.

Comments from our Guests!

"The lovely ladies asked if there were any particular stops we wanted to make at certain wineries. We had a couple in mind and they were already on the tour. After that, they put some music on and blasted some cool A/C for us and we were off. We stopped at 4 wineries and they even made a pit stop at a local eatery to have lunch with us. They had a place they suggested and they were right. The best thing about a tour besides the tour itself is a well informed tour guide. Can't have one without the other. They let us take our time at each place and after each stop asked how our experience was at each place. We will have to make another trip and tour with Majesty again. Those ladies know what they're doing!"

"My mom and I booked a tour with Majesty Tours for a Thursday afternoon. Kelly was our guide and her husband Kace was our driver. When I booked the tour, Kelly asked what kind of wine we liked and then they based our tour off of that info. We went to three wineries and they did a great job of picking the wineries. We enjoyed all of them! After the second winery, they provided us with a great snack of cheese, meat, and crackers, which we ate while enjoying the beautiful scenery. It was apparent to me that they had chosen to go to that winery at that time so we could enjoy the scenery there during our snack. At each winery we had purchased bottles of wine and they were quick to pack up our bottles and souvenir glasses and put them in the bus for us. We didn't have to worry about a thing during the entire tour! They really worked hard during the tour to make sure we had the best experience and made sure we got connected with the best servers at each winery. We had such an enjoyable experience with them and I really believe that is due to the fact that they enjoy what they do! It is very evident that it is so important that their customers have personable service and a great wine experience!"
